Awasaka Co.
Please enjoy the following seven characteristics of Mino Ceramic Ware.
[Unevenness of color] Even if the same clay, technique and glaze are used, there will be variations in color after firing.
[Glaze dripping, glaze pooling] A thick layer of glaze may flow during firing, giving the appearance of glaze dripping.
【Iron powder】The clay from which pottery is made contains iron powder, which appears on the surface as dark spots when the vessel is fired. This is especially common in vessels made of red or black clay.
Copper paperboard is made of Japanese paper on which Koshi pigments are printed. The paper is applied to the vessel by hand, so there may be some wrinkling, blurring, or shifting of the pattern in certain aspects of the vessel.
[Earthenware (Pottery)] Pottery is water-absorbent, so if you leave your dishes soaking in dirty water after use, it may cause mold, stains, and odor. After use, wash with kitchen detergent to remove dirt quickly, rinse well, and dry before storing. In addition, it is recommended that you soak the cloth in boiling water to moisten it before use to prevent tea stains.
[Kiln Change] During the firing process of a pottery, the way the glaze burns, flows, and colors change depending on the temperature difference and position in the kiln.
There are many reasons why it is said that pottery is a living thing, and each piece of pottery has a different expression even if it has the same design.
We hope you enjoy the differences between each piece.
